Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a skin condition that can affect those young and old, but primarily affects the very young. They can be itchy and even painful at times, and may also cause a fever. Take Your Child To The Dermatologist
Get your child in to see the dermatologist right away if you suspect they have hand, foot, and mouth disease. If you see the spots on your child's hands or feet, or the inside of the mouth, or anywhere on the skin, you should take your child to the dermatologist to have an exam and for proper treatment. This is something that can spread quickly to others around your child, including yourself, so if you see anything that appears abnormal, take your child to the dermatologist for a diagnosis.
Keep Your Child Away From Other Kids
Keep your child away from other children to prevent the spread of this skin condition to others. This is a virus that can spread very easily, especially among school-aged children, or preschool-aged children. It can quickly spread through a daycare facility as well. If you have younger children especially, keep them away from other kids. Older children should also be kept home from school until a physician or dermatologist releases them to go back.
Don't Allow Sharing Of Drinks
Be sure your child does not drink out of the same cup as anyone, as this is a virus and can spread through saliva transmission. Open sores on the hands or feet can also cause the spread, so be sure not to share anything and keep your child's feet covered to prevent spreading the virus throughout your home.
